Anita Mahajan is a Radiation Oncologist and is currently the Medical Director of the Proton Therapy Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas which is one of the largest cancer treatment centers in the world. She works with an excellent team of professionals which included over 50 other radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, therapists and nurses. She has been living in Houston for the last 10 years where she has had the opportunity to work with proton therapy and other forms of radiation to treat children with cancer and adults with brain tumors.
Anita was born in England and since then has lived in Toronto, Montreal, Saudi Arabia, Boston and Houston. She holds an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and a medical degree from McGill University. She then completed a fellowship in proton radiotherapy in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital and was on staff at the New England Medical Center of Tufts University before moving to Houston.
Throughout her career, Anita has continued to have a passion for treating patients successfully with minimal side effects. In her field, she has the ability to work with other professionals including surgeons and medical oncologists to make sure each patients receives the best possible care. As the medical director, Anita has had the opportunity to become more involved in administration, the business of medicine and program development.
